Keep Moving
Interesting class at the gym this am as our usual instructor was mysteriously absent. I think most people find it a little off-putting when they pitch up expecting a particular workout and end up having to do something slightly different. It was still a tonificacion class, but each instructor’s interpretation of toning is unique. I wasn’t hugely impressed when she asked us to put out steps, as I have never liked choreographed classes and step happens to be one of my pet hates! However at this gym they mainly use the step to add a little more resistance and the moves tend to stay pretty basic. Today however a few more complicated steps did appear, not a lot but just enough to wind me up!
My advice if you dislike step as much as I do is to stay focused on what you are trying to achieve and not worry if you can’t do the complicated stuff. I stick with the most basic steps and don’t take on board the progressions. Whilst the class spins and twirls I stay at the start of the routine and wait for them to come back and re-join me. Ok so lots of people still love step, but I have been to too many classes where over half the attendees spend most of the time virtually standing still and frowning because they can’t work out what they are supposed to be doing next.
The whole point of any exercise class is to keep moving, SO never be afraid to do your own thing a little, as long as you feel you are getting something out of it. Amusingly this am after we had done most of the class, the instructor actually advised the women who were struggling with the steps to do what I had been doing all along … keeping it basic!

Fitness and diet has been a growing interest of mine for about 15 years now. What was initially just 'my thing' became a much stronger focus 8 years ago when I gave up working full time in business. I have since learned a lot about nutrition, and trained in Pilates mat work, as well as in more traditional gym programs.
We have travelled a lot in the last 6 years and I am only finally more settled in Almerimar this year. I know from this experience that at times it is difficult to lead a healthy lifestyle, but it is something that is very important to me.
My work with other people so far has been mainly one to one, which is how I prefer it, as I see diet and fitness as a very personal thing. We are all very different in what we are trying to achieve here and in the other things that are important in our lives!
